Kent newborn baby photographer in the comfort of your own home- Your questions answered!

With this downtime and not being able to photograph right now due to the Tier 4 restrictions, I thought it might be a good idea for me to do a quick post to explain exactly what it is I do- specifically with the newborn photography side of things!

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫 is an ‘at home’ photography service for specialised newborn photography- Newborn photography isn’t something any photographer can just do. It has taken me years of experience and training to get to where I am now and be able to 100% safely pose and photograph your newborn baby. There are so many things to take into account with such precious little babies, including the equipment I use, the methods and mechanics of the posing, the physical positions they can and should not be put into at such a young age and of course their safety being the most important!

If you’re already a parent, I’m sure you will remember those newborn days being such a whirlwind, you are exhausted, overwhelmed, hormonal (totally in love of course) and the last thing most new parents want to do is leave their home- and yet we still want those precious newborn images captured so desperately! And that is exactly why I come to you! I cover most of Kent but do let me know your town when enquiring so I can check I cover your area first!

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧? Ideally we want to photograph your baby when they are under 14 days of age and this is because this is when they are still ‘womb like’, they’ve just spend the past 9 months wrapped up securely in your tummy, to them the feeling of being wrapped up with the technique I use is so familiar to them, they want to feel warm, full and cosy- and with that recipe I’d say 90% of babies are guaranteed to sleep throughout the session and are more than happy to be posed and photographed!

. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨? I bring along everything we physically need, including; the lighting, flooring, props, wraps, backdrops, accessories and so much more! And all I need from you is some clear floor space to work in. How easy is that!

The best time to book me in, is just after your 20 week scan but I can be booked as early as you like! I only take ‘so many’ newborn bookings per month so that I can be as flexible as possible with the dates I offer you for the shoot itself once your baby arrives! Your due date is popped in the calendar, with plenty of flexibility with them arriving early or late, and because of this system I am more often than not, totally fully booked months in advance! Every now and then there may be small spaces pop up with the booked clients arrival dates being slightly different to the planned dates, so do always message if you think you might have left it too late, and if I am full, I will always recommend someone else amazing for you!

Upon booking me for a newborn session I send you my prep guide, this explains in more details how it all works on the day and how best to prepare for my visit. But the truth is, there really isn’t much you need to do to prepare, in fact you get a 2-3 hour break! Most parents love to sit back with a ‘hot’ cuppa and watch whilst I work, it’s such a lovely, relaxing experience for you and your baby to be part of, and as soon as you see your baby is in safe hands, a lot of parents pop off for a little nap themselves too!

Having now photographed over 200 newborn babies, I would say 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝, have been trained by the best in the country and am fully insured.

I guess the final thing you’d want to know, is 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬. The session itself is £65, which is taken upon booking, at this point we go through your image preferences, what colours you love and if you have any particular image requests! This is your shoot, and I want the results to be exactly what you’d imagined, so knowing this early on helps me plan and produce the perfect gallery for you! No images or products are included in this session fee as it just covers my time on the day and the editing process afterwards. Around 2 weeks after your session, you are sent an online gallery of your final, finished images (again no need to leave the house). At this point, once you know exactly what is on offer, you can then choose a package of images that best suits you!
